Los grandes museos hace tiempo que se rindieron al lobby tur\u00edstico. El ejemplo m\u00e1s claro es el caso del Louvre. La Sala de los Estados (sala 711, ala Denon, planta 1), la m\u00e1s grande del complejo, alberga obras sublimes de los maestros venecianos como Tiziano, Tintoretto o el Veron\u00e9s, pero solo una atrae el inter\u00e9s de los visitantes. En efecto, la Gioconda de Leonardo Da Vinci se ha convertido en un ‘selfie point’, donde diariamente centenares de personas se agolpan para sacarse una foto con la ‘enigm\u00e1tica’ Monalisa.<\/p>\n

Para no perder este poder de atracci\u00f3n, el museo parisino hace tiempo que decidi\u00f3 no restaurar la pintura. Es por eso que la Gioconda tiene ese extra\u00f1o velo marr\u00f3n amarillento que la recubre, que no es otra cosa que la degradaci\u00f3n de los barnices a lo largo de cinco siglos de historia y que ocultan los verdaderos colores del cuadro, mucho m\u00e1s vivos en realidad. Una restauraci\u00f3n integral del cuadro supondr\u00eda causar el rechazo del p\u00fablico tur\u00edstico m\u00e1s conservador, tal como sucedi\u00f3 con La Virgen, el Ni\u00f1o Jes\u00fas y Santa Ana, tambi\u00e9n de Da Vinci. Esa es la raz\u00f3n que arguyen desde el museo. De hecho, en 2019 el Louvre antepuso la restauraci\u00f3n de la sala, pint\u00e1ndola de un azul intenso para reforzar el contraste con la paleta de colores de las obras expuestas.<\/p>\n

La Gioconda ser\u00eda una obra m\u00e1s en el cat\u00e1logo de la pinacoteca si no fuese por el robo que sufri\u00f3 en 1911, causando un gran revuelo medi\u00e1tico y convirtiendo la sustracci\u00f3n en una cuesti\u00f3n de estado. Los art\u00edculos se multiplicaban en la prensa y se promet\u00edan suculentas recompensas. La casualidad hizo que un marchante de arte italiano se la ofreciera a un vidriero que hab\u00eda trabajado para el Louvre. Este lo denunci\u00f3 y as\u00ed se recuper\u00f3 el cuadro.
