Su obra llam\u00f3 la atenci\u00f3n por primera vez en los a\u00f1os 1990, cuando alumbr\u00f3 un nuevo g\u00e9nero de pintura, el \u00absurrealismo pop\u00bb, que arrastr\u00f3 una multitud de seguidores en su estela. Ryden ha rematado las estrategias surrealistas iniciales escogiendo contenidos cargados de connotaciones culturales. El vocabulario de Ryden abarca desde lo cr\u00edptico a lo tierno, pisando la delgada l\u00ednea entre el clich\u00e9 nost\u00e1lgico y el arquetipo perturbador. Seducido por sus superficies infinitamente detalladas y glaseadas meticulosamente, el espectador es enfrentado a la yuxtaposici\u00f3n de la inocencia infantil y los misterios rec\u00f3nditos del alma. Un sutil desasosiego habita sus pinturas: la obra es dolorosamente bella mientras insin\u00faa cosas ps\u00edquicas m\u00e1s oscuras bajo la apariencia de kitsch cultural. En el mundo de Ryden, chicas angelicales se codean con figuras extra\u00f1as y misteriosas. Marcos recargadamente esculpidos prestan a las pinturas una exuberancia barroca que a\u00f1ade gravedad a sus temas enigm\u00e1ticos. Compleja en sus contenidos arcanos e idiosincr\u00e1sicos, la obra de Ryden no deja indiferente a ning\u00fan espectador.<\/p>\n<p><em>Pixit<\/em>, cuyo t\u00edtulo remite al t\u00e9rmino latino que significa \u201cpintado por\u201d, est\u00e1 organizado de acuerdo con los temas de las principales exposiciones de Ryden \u2014The Meat Show, Bunnies &amp; Bees, The Tree Show, y as\u00ed sucesivamente\u2014 e incluye ensayos compilados de Yoshitomo Nara, Carlo McCormick y otros, y un nuevo ensayo de la cr\u00edtica cultural Kristine McKenna. Las pinturas y dibujos de Ryden se encuentran reproducidos con las mejores t\u00e9cnicas disponibles y m\u00e1s de una docena de las pinturas son desplegables que se abren a unos asombrosos 150 cm (59 pulgadas) de lado a lado.<\/p>\n<p>Se han publicado muchos libros sobre Mark Ryden, pero ninguno como esta monograf\u00eda de gran formato, presentada en un estuche en una Edici\u00f3n de Coleccionista de 1.000 ejemplares numerados, cada uno firmado por el artista, y tambi\u00e9n disponible en una Edici\u00f3n de Arte de solo 50 ejemplares, que vienen con una obra de arte. Tambi\u00e9n disponible en una Edici\u00f3n de Arte de 50 ejemplares (N\u00fams. 1-50)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark Ryden <\/strong>obtuvo una licenciatura en bellas artes en 1987 del Art Center College of Design de Pasadena. Sus pinturas han sido expuestas en museos y galer\u00edas de todo el mundo, incluyendo la retrospectiva Wondertoonel en el Frye Museum of Art de Seattle y el Pasadena Museum of California Art y la exposici\u00f3n The Artist\u2019s Museum en el Museo de Arte Contempor\u00e1neo de Los \u00c1ngeles.
