En una \u00e9poca de refritos, tributos y, especialmente, sonados regresos de nostalgia recaudatoria (Police, Pixies, Madness o el caso extremo y pat\u00e9tico de Sex Pistols) reconforta ver que The Feelies y The Cars est\u00e1n de vuelta con algo interesante.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-31379 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.revistarambla.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/The_Feelies_Central_Park_2016.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.revistarambla.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/The_Feelies_Central_Park_2016.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.revistarambla.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/The_Feelies_Central_Park_2016-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.revistarambla.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/The_Feelies_Central_Park_2016-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>En ambos casos han pasado veinte a\u00f1os desde su \u00faltima apuesta musical, dos d\u00e9cadas de cambio vertiginoso en las que se ha intercalado el derrumbamiento de la industria discogr\u00e1fica con la muerte del formato cd, la mitificaci\u00f3n del vinilo, la lucha por los derechos de autor y el frenes\u00ed de las descargas, que acarrea la acumulaci\u00f3n impulsiva de mp3 con poco tiempo para profundizar (el ansia materialista de poseer, propia del sistema capitalista y de la cultura actual del fast food).<\/p>\n<p>Mucha paja, poco criterio y ausencia de grandes bandas que lideren, instauren o exploren alguna v\u00eda distinta. Por eso en ciertos casos se agradece que m\u00fasicos de generaciones anteriores vengan a impartir alguna lecci\u00f3n y a marcar la pauta. Sin que nadie se lo haya pedido y sin ning\u00fan af\u00e1n de protagonismo. Dos ejemplos bien claros para inaugurar la secci\u00f3n musical, cuya primera entrega se inscribe en la categor\u00eda de \u201cComebacks\u201d.<\/p>\n<h3>THE FEELIES: \u201cHERE BEFORE\u201d (2011)<\/h3>\n<p>Este quinteto de Nueva Jersey, nacido justo en la explosi\u00f3n del <span data-scayt_word=\"post-punk\" data-scaytid=\"28\">post-punk<\/span>, podr\u00eda haber vivido de rentas y esperar que los viejos laureles <span data-scayt_word=\"reverdecieran\" data-scaytid=\"29\">reverdecieran<\/span> (tirar de un \u00e1lbum de culto como <span data-scayt_word=\"\u201cCrazy\" data-scaytid=\"30\">\u201cCrazy<\/span> <span data-scayt_word=\"rhythms\u201d\" data-scaytid=\"31\">rhythms\u201d<\/span>) pero han optado por lo contrario. O sea, doce temas nuevos capaces de aglutinar dos virtudes: mantener su esencia, la que los llev\u00f3 a ser un faro de la escena alternativa americana de los 80 pese a no contar con el favor <span data-scayt_word=\"medi\u00e1tico\" data-scaytid=\"32\">medi\u00e1tico<\/span>, e incorporar flecos y matices de bandas recientes cuyos componentes ni hab\u00edan nacido cuando <span data-scayt_word=\"The\" data-scaytid=\"33\">The<\/span> <span data-scayt_word=\"Feelies\" data-scaytid=\"34\">Feelies<\/span> surgieron. Y el acierto principal: producir belleza y emoci\u00f3n con sencillez, que es lo m\u00e1s complicado de conseguir.<\/p>\n<p>La banda capitaneada por Bill Million y Glenn Mercer, con una <em>autoaureola<\/em> de amateurismo similar a la de The Housemartins, son una especie de \u201cbeautiful losers\u201d reivindicados a modo de justicia po\u00e9tica por mel\u00f3manos. Y eso que fueron coet\u00e1neos y amigos de REM, en una movida underground que abarc\u00f3 otros ilustres olvidados como H\u00fcsker D\u00fc, The Replacements, Camper Van Beethoven o The Dream Syndicate. El t\u00edtulo de su flamante obra, \u201cHere before\u201d, se podr\u00eda interpretar como un gui\u00f1o, al uso del abuelo y sus batallitas, como si dijeran: \u2018nosotros ya estuvimos aqu\u00ed antes y sabemos como manejarlo\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Quiz\u00e1s por ese motivo, y por la sabidur\u00eda que otorga la experiencia, han hecho justo lo que ten\u00edan en mente y les ha salido un producto tan redondo. Sin grandes efectos, ni instrumentos ex\u00f3ticos, ni atm\u00f3sferas cargadas, ni riffs virtuosos, ni estridencias, ni distorsiones, ni falsetes melodram\u00e1ticos ni otros ropajes fastuosos. Directos, claros, concisos y naturales. Conscientes, m\u00e1s que de sus limitaciones, de sus aptitudes.<\/p>\n<p>Pop-rock con ecos de REM, The Strokes, Mercury Rev o incluso The Byrds en piezas de orfebrer\u00eda como \u201cMorning Comes\u201d, el sutil final psicod\u00e9lico de \u201cChange your mind\u201d, el leve toque punk de \u201cTime is right\u201d, el \u201cpa-pa-pa\u201d de \u00e9pica serena en \u201cBluer skies\u201d que ya desear\u00edan haber firmado Ocean Colour Scene o la elegancia emotiva de \u201cWay down\u201d que Coldplay hubiera elevado a categor\u00eda de himno para estadios.
